Kate Spade: Cedar Street Darla Review

Last month, I visited my local outlet mall, (so thankful to have an outlet mall 20 mins. away) the weather was a little cold but luckily the mall was not crowded. I would say the only store that was really crowded, would be the Tory Burch store, they had a waiting line outside.

Our first stop, out of convenience, was the Nautica store. I was so glad to see some really cute sweaters, which where also on sale for $20 each. Our main stop was for the Kate Spade store, they where having such a great sale, 60% off the entire store. We first came out with a couple of purses and bracelets, (as an added bonus, they offer a 15% student discount). We then stopped next door to the Michael Kors store, where I saw some really cute ID holders.

My mom and sister told me they had saw some very smiliar at Kate Spade. I decided that for the price and the size, Kate Spade was the winner. I went back and picked up a Cedar Street Darla - Pillboxred
Cedar Street Darla $78 after discount $27

It was a no question, that Kate Spade was a better deal. Although it is bigger then my previous card holder, it was time to retire my old Juicy one. The main difference between the two is the size and zipper vs snap opening.

As you can see from the wear, it has been very loved, around 7 years of love.

My Stock Market

Today I am going to give you guy's some insight on where and what I am currently trading.

I am currently using Scottrade as my brokerage firm. I was recommended this company back in 2010, and I am very satisfied with their services. (keep in mind, I just do basic buy and sell, no options at this point) Scottrade does offer option trading, but you must fist sign some document stating that you understand the risk that is involved.

The main things that brought me to Scottrade, was their low trading costs. (its $7, per trade)

When I first opened my Scottrade account, I found it a little difficult to navigate though. My first priority was to load money into my account. (some warning, it does take a couple of days before your funds are transferred)

For me personally, I am fortunate enough to have excess funds to put into the market. I would not suggest anyone to throw their money into the market in hopes of earning cash fast. In my opinion, the first rule of investment, is to invest an amount that you are comfortable parting with. In doing so, if your investments take a turn for the worse, you will be okay with the current amount lost.

For me, I do research a couple of companies that are currently attractive in the market. I will track them in my Google portfolio and will determine if their 52 week low is either a) currently attainable or b) reasonable.

That being said, I currently purchased Linn Energy, $LINE, I had heard about this company from a friend of mine, and though talk in my Finance classes. I decided to purchase a couple of shares at $11.58. At the time, I felt like it was a good purchase, as the weeks went by and the price of oil dropped, so did the price of $LINE. I was hesitant at first, but knew that my goal was to hold the shares for long term. Today, I placed a buy limit for $LINE at $9.15 and my order was successfully filled.

TIP** The total amount of money invested into a company is very important. If one where to invest $100 vs $1,000 into a company, then the overall profit and break even point would be very different.

For example, if the stock price is $10 dollars, it would be more profitable to invest $1,000 than $100
Stock $10Profit per shareFeeTotal Profit% Gain
$100101.88144.80.48%
$1,0001001.88141741.74%

Some times, I find companies on a whim. I will do a quick search and filter out companies based on industry and price. I will then look at their competitors and sometimes end up choosing their competitors over my initial choice. (Although I have a finance degree, I do not put 100% emphasis on key factors such as EPS, market cap, P/E, ect.)

Celebrity Apprentice New TV Show....For ME

So, Celebrity Apprentice has been on TV for a couple of years now... 7 seasons. In the past, it was called The Apprentice, and is hosted by Donald Trump. Today, the show includes 16 celebrities, that are brought to New York, New York, with a mission to raise money for a charitable organization of their liking.

I'm not really sure what made me tune in this season, maybe because I saw Kate Gosselin? (its a love hate relationship with her) After they introduced the celebrities, I was more intrigued, Kevin Jonas and Shaw Johnson really caught my eye. Not sure why the Jonas brother seemed interesting, but I really loved watching Shaw Johnson on Dancing With The Stars ( another TV show that I love).

To be honest, I have no idea who some of the celebrities are. So listed below is their name and face.

Jamie Anderson - 24, Olympic Gold Snowboarder
Johnny Damon - Major League Baseball
Vivica A. Fox - Actress and TV Producer
Keshia Knight Pulliam - Actress - Ruby Huxtable
Leeza Gibbons - Talk Show Host
Brandi Glanville - The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

Gilbert Gottfried - Stand-Up Comedian, Actor
Kate Gosselin - Jon & Kate plus 8
Sig Hansen - Captain of Northwestern Deadliest Catch
Kevin Jonas - 27 - Jonas Brother
Shawn Johnson - 22 - Olympic Gold Gymnast - Season 8 DWTS winner
Lorenzo Lamas - Actor
Terrell Owens - National Football League
Kenya Moore - Miss USA 1993 - The Real Housewives of Atlanta

Geraldo Rivera - Geraldo at Large
Ian Ziering - Beverly Hills, 90210

The first episode, was battle of the sexes, the group was divided boys vs girls; it also included baking and selling two different pies while raising money for a charity. I felt the men's group had a more dynamic team that could reach out to a wide range of fans; while the women's group had a more limiting fan range. (I felt they where similar in the types of fan demographics, resulting in less numbers to reach out to) For a two hour episode, I felt that a lot of the show was fluffed, however the fluff is what sells. My favorite part was towards the end, when each team was brought to the board room and had to discuss the results. I don't want to spoil the episode, so be sure to tune into NBC on Sunday at 8.
